The short version

How United States of LOL works

United States of LOL is a bidding game about confidence. All fifty states are up for grabs. You claim one by placing the highest bid, a real US-dollar payment, and anyone can outbid you to take it. A live leaderboard keeps score of who owns America. Every price is shown up front, and bids are final.

  1. Claim a state

Open the map, pick a state, and place a bid. Every unclaimed state opens at $1, so planting your first flag costs a single dollar.

  2. Outbid a rival

Want a state someone already holds? Bid at least $1 over the current price. Your card is charged on the spot, and the state is yours until someone beats it.

  3. Top the leaderboard

Hold states to climb the standings for biggest landholder and most valuable state, and watch the live feed react to every move.

Questions

What is United States of LOL?
United States of LOL is a bidding game about confidence. Every US state is up for grabs. You claim a state by placing the highest bid on it, and anyone can take it from you later by bidding higher. The board keeps a running leaderboard of who owns America.
How do I claim a state?
Pick a state on the map and place a bid. Unclaimed states open at $1. To take a state that someone already holds, you bid at least $1 more than the current price. Your card is charged when you place the bid; once it clears, your name and logo sit on that state until the next person outbids you.
Is it real money?
Yes. Bids are real US-dollar payments, taken at the moment you place them through our payments provider. Every state opens at $1 and each new bid must beat the current price by at least $1. Bids are final: we do not refund a bid because someone later outbid you. It is a novelty game, not an investment, and it is not affiliated with any government.
Do I need an account?
No account. Anyone can browse the map and the leaderboard. When you place a bid you pick a display handle and, optionally, a company name, link, and logo, then pay through our checkout. We do not run a mailing list or third-party trackers.
What happens when someone outbids me?
The state changes hands immediately. The new owner's details replace yours on the map, the price ratchets up by at least $1 for the next challenger, and the activity feed and leaderboard update in real time. Your earlier bid is not refunded.
Who is this for?
Anyone who enjoys a low-stakes competitive game: founders planting a flag for their company, friends fighting over their home state, or people who just want to be, briefly, the owner of Texas.
